Amanda Phan is a North Carolina ICON and a former public-school music teacher. She discovered POUND while studying as a vocalist in college and fell in love immediately. It was through POUND that she was able to gain positive mental wellness (along with the physical benefits) all while increasing her own self-esteem and confidence. Supporting and lifting others to their fullest potential is her favorite thing to do, and she can’t wait to share her love of POUND with others! Amanda believes in the power of POUND and unleashing everyone’s inner rockstar so they can unapologetically be their most authentic selves!
If you could choose your own rockstar nickname, what would it be?
Honestly, I’d always figured my rockstar name would just be my name: Amanda Phan. There is a nice flow that just kinda rolls off the tongue!
What’s the first thing you do when you get home from a trip?
Take a nap! Naps are my favorite!
What activity do you do that makes you feel most like yourself?
Teaching! Whether it’s teaching music, POUND, whatever! Reading, baking, cooking!
What’s the best thing that ever happened to you?
POUND! Seriously! I’m not sure who I’d be if I hadn’t gone to that very first class!
How do you show your love for others?
I show love through sharing food, music, and stories.
What’s one thing you’d tell your 13-year-old self?
No one is thinking about you the way you think about yourself. I’d tell my 13-year-old self to try and be brave, even just a little.
What superpower would you most like to have?
I’d like the power of flight where I can control the speed (so like teleportation is an option, but then I could take it slow if I wanted to enjoy the sights!) I love visiting new places (and I’m only 4’11”, so the idea of seeing sights from above is really exciting), but I also would like the option to immediately come back to my own personal bed to sleep if I wanted to.
