JOYCE WONG

Joyce Wong lives in Brooklyn, NY and had her first POUND® experience in 2011 in NYC. Talk about love at first strike! Not only was it the most fun she ever had at the gym, but the immediate audio feedback of her body’s movements that the Ripstix® provided was what really hooked her. A lover of yoga and biomechanics, Joyce encourages her students to become aware of their bodies and needs, to search for balance in their lives, and to have fun by working smarter, not harder.

What activity do you do that makes you feel most like yourself?
I love anything where I get to connect my mind and my body, especially if there’s good music involved: dancing, yoga, POUND, any kind of movement! I also like hiking, swimming, running, being outdoors, the sunshine, the ocean, reading a good book, arts and crafts, cooking a yummy meal, hanging out with my husband or my girlfriends. I feel MOST like myself when everything is BALANCED and IN TUNE: work, rest, exercise, meditation, time with people, time for myself, eating well yet accompanying it with a glass of wine and some dessert!

Whom do you secretly admire?
Recently becoming a mother myself, I have a profound admiration for my mom! She enrolled my brother and me in every activity, took us to all the museums, parks, theater, concerts, you name it. It was something I took for granted for all these years until I become a parent myself and realized how much planning goes into just getting yourself and your child out of the house! Love you, Mom!

How do you show love for others?
The best way to show love for others is to just take care of them! Be mindful of their needs, their likes and dislikes, listen when they are speaking, and be there when they need you. Personally, I love to give people cards on their birthdays.  I really enjoy picking out a card that I think they’ll find amusing and I like writing inside the card.  Maybe it’s a facet of my old soul, but in this digital-everything age, a hand-written message inside a tangible card is so delightful.

What superpower would you most like to have?
Teleportation! I love going to new places and meeting new people and trying new things, but the actual time at the airport and on a plane are not very fun.  My family is spread out all over the world and I could visit everyone I love at a moment’s notice!
