Meet your new favorite feel-good artist, Ryn Weaver. Aside from her infectiously catchy new EP, Promises, Ryn boasts a serendipitously rad connection to you, our POUND Posse!
The story of how Ryn and POUND are connected might make you chuckle. It might even tempt you to sign up for Tinder (WHAT?!) but we won’t jump to conclusions! 😉 The man who first listened to Ryn’s talent with hit-making ears was none other than super-producer, Benny Blanco. Through the social dating app Tinder, Ryn’s friend got invited to a party Benny was hosting and she took the opportunity to tag along, ambitiously presenting Benny with her music right on the spot. (You go girl!). After just one listen, Benny rounded up his super-producer buddies, Cashmere Cat and Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit, and got to work on Ryn’s first single, “Octahate”.
FUN FACT: Before there was “Octahate” — and before Tinder was even invented — Benny was part of POUND history! Forget that he’s worked with Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Maroon 5 — Benny was in the very first POUND class ever. Like, EVER, EVER!
Benny and a bevy of other mega-artists and producers sing Ryn’s praises, like powerhouse females Charli XCX and Jessie Ware. So it’s no surprise that this sassy SoCal native is exploding onto the music scene with her sing-along anthems, “Octahate,” “Promises,” and “Stay Low.”
You can hear the tone of her idols Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and Carole King pumping through her voice. Her toe-tapping hooks are bound to permanently invade your head, so much so that you’ll be singing Ryn’s tunes (and her praises) whether you like it or not.
