5 Ways To Use Coconut Oil Everyday
1. Face and Body Moisturizer + Bonus: Makeup Remover:
If you want a natural, amazing smelling, effective moisturizer, use a spoonful of coconut oil! You’ve got two options here:
1. Apply a thick layer on your skin for 15 minutes to use as a moisturizing mask. When you gently wipe away, it will also act as a makeup remover! BONUS! 😉
2. Apply a thin layer before bed and do not wipe away. Your skin will continue to absorb through the night and you’ll wake up glowing — the term “beauty sleep” just got real!
Note: Coconut oil is GREAT for soothing sunburns but remember not to go out into the sun when you’re slathered up or else you’ll turn into Pinkalicious!
2. Natural Hair Mask:
How many hours do you spend blow drying, straightening, and curling your hair? We love going au natural as much as possible, but let’s be real, we all put our hair through heat-hell and it deserves a little TLC.
Grab 1-2 T coconut oil (depending on your hair length) and massage into your hair. Want to get crazy? Add 1 egg to the mixture and give your hair a vitamin bath that will make it smoother and silkier than you could ever imagine! Give it about 20 minutes or until it begins to harden, then rinse thoroughly! (Then let it dry and snap a pic and show us your BEAUTIFUL natural, hydrated locks!)
We use coconut oil when cooking at high heat because it has a higher smoking point than most oils, which means that it can reach a higher temperature before the natural impurities begin to burn. Not to mention, it’s got a delicious flavor that adds a little kick to any dish! We use it in almost everything – but give our Sweet Potato and Rosemary Waffles a swirl and test it out yourselves! 😉
We know you’ve heard of oil-pulling because it’s one of the most talked about uses of coconut oil recently. Throw some in a smoothie or your cold-pressed juice! Somehow, it gives us just the boost we need to get through the remainder of the day without resorting to sugary, caffeinated sodas or a calorie-packed iced latte!
