New Leadership Takes the Stage

As POUND Rockout. Workout. LLC Scales
for an Even Louder Future

Los Angeles, CA, (Jan. 27, 2022) – POUND Rockout. Workout. LLC, the innovative drum-inspired cardio-jam session that makes a workout feel like a rock concert, has announced fitness industry veteran Amber Martinez as its new Chief Operating Officer. The fitness company also announced expansion plans for 2022.

Martinez will oversee global sales and operations, serving nearly 30,000 POUND instructors and 8,000 venue partners across 107 countries. Bringing a deep understanding of the fitness and franchise industry with more than 20 years of experience, Martinez previously served as Vice President of Franchise Sales at Crunch Fitness and Vice President of west coast stores for YogaWorks.

“Amber brings a highly successful track record of growth and has always authentically put people, culture, and purpose first – something I find pretty rare,” said founder and CEO Kirsten Potenza. “Plus, her experience serving and scaling in the brick and mortar space positions us well for the future.”

The fun and cathartic workout experience is driving the company’s growth, along with POUND’s ethos for letting loose, getting energized, toning up, and rockin’ out. Setting POUND apart from other fitness programs is the company’s emphasis on community, mental wellness, and self-acceptance.

After celebrating the company’s 10th anniversary in 2021 and a decade of making noise in the fitness industry, Potenza adds, “We know 2022 will be a monumental year for us. A lot of what we’ve built into our business and brand is very much what the world needs right now.

POUND is expanding its programming to serve today’s youth & actively aging populations and increasing instructor education to enable them to thrive not just as POUND instructors, but as leaders and humans.

“We’re also leaning heavily into the cognitive benefits of POUND and initiating research into its efficacy on mental health, something deeply important to our mission,” according to Potenza. “We understand where the industry is headed and we’ll continue to push the boundaries of fitness and bring innovation and unique experiences through a strategic, ever-evolving omnichannel approach.”

Designed for all fitness levels and centered around its core mission of community, wellness, and music, Martinez adds, “I believe group fitness is the heartbeat of the gym industry and that bringing community-driven, accessible workouts are the key to reigniting it. At this stage in my career, what I do is personal. Joining the POUND team in an exciting new position isn’t just about the role and goals, but even more so, about joining a team where what we do really matters and where people are genuinely our number one priority.”

POUND Rockout. Workout. LLC: Fitness Rebels

POUND®, an international fitness company based in Los Angeles, was created in 2011 by two women who were both recreational drummers and former college athletes. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND transforms drumming into a full-body cardio-jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat-dripping fun. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, fitness-goers become the music in this exhilarating workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements.

Over the last 10 years, POUND has cultivated a brand and community that stands behind its pillars of mental health, community, inclusivity, and self-expression. Founder and CEO, Kirsten Potenza has dubbed the POUND team and participants Fitness Rebels as they believe in taking risks and challenging the status quo when something doesn’t feel authentic. The POUND community is always reminded that sometimes the most rebellious thing you can do, is to be yourself.  PoundFit.com
