Good Morning TOURmates!

I think this blog is more of a love letter than anything else, but here goes.

I’m reading a book called “off balance” by Matthew Kelly. In the book he tells a story where a stock broker met a fishermen on the coast of Mexico. The fisherman had come back from his trip early that day and the stock broker wondered why. When he approached the fisherman, he said “why are you in so early?” The fisherman said, “well, I have enough food for my family, and a few more to sell in town. I’m going to go home, see my family, have siesta with my wife and then head into town to play the guitar at a local restaurant with my friends.” The stock broker said, “But you could have stayed out for longer and caught more fish to sell in the market!” The fisherman said, “and then what?” The stock broker said, “well then you can make enough money to buy another boat and double your pay!” The fisherman then said, “and then what?” The stock broker said, “and then you can buyout the other boats, and take a hold on the marketplace. After that you can move to LA and start a distribution company! You’ll make millions!” The fisherman replied, “and then what?” The stock broker thought for a while and said, “....and then you can retire, live off the land, spend time with your family, have siesta with your wife and head into town at night to play guitar with your friends.” The point of the story wasn’t that we are all supposed to live a simple life like the fisherman. The point is that we all miss the point when it comes to the control we have over our own lives, what truly makes us happy, and the purpose that we find.

When I heard this story I immediately thought of our POUND Pros. So many of them have given up their “normal jobs” to live out their life’s purpose. I’m sure that most of them experienced some sort of breakthrough when they finally got in touch with what lights them up - which is inspiring people to move, to be happier and healthier. I think we can all take a page from their playbook - and I think we should do it together this week. Be GOOD to yourself (and others!) and honor what moves you.

Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” You might know what you were put on this earth to do, which is incredible! Spend this week re-connecting with that purpose - and maybe sharing it with the community. If that light bulb moment hasn’t happened, well now’s the time, rebel.

Take this week to reflect on the following things: What lights you up? What do you bring to the world? And what do you want to bring to the world? What moves you? What wakes you up in the middle of the night that you can’t stop thinking about? What truly makes you happy?

If you’re struggling, try this exercise: Write down the top 5 things that make you happy. Don’t think about it, just write it down quickly. It might just tell you what you need to know.

WEEK THREE CHALLENGE: Search #riseoftherebel hashtag on social media and say hi to someone new! Make a connection with someone from across the globe.
