Amanda Phan is a POUND ICON based in Durham, NC. She fell in love with POUND in 2014 and became a Pro in 2016. Amanda didn’t realize her true potential until POUND helped her break free from limiting labels, sparking a love for fitness and movement.
A skilled personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Amanda specializes in a variety of formats, including Pilates, yoga, strength, and of course POUND, her favorite. She’s also a private music instructor and understands the importance and power of music. I wish I could learn languages instantly! I would love to be able to communicate and connect with people all over the world! I think that’s why I value music so much, it’s a way to make connections with others without any need for words.
Acknowledgement and encouragement, whether it’s big actions or smaller actions – it varies from person to person. This can be eye contact and a smile or calling out their name and bringing attention to the fire they’re bringing to class! What is your first POUND memory?
My best friend from high school reached out and asked me to come. I was not a person who “exercised” at all, but I went anyway. And it was in a weird long and narrow room, but there was a magical moment when the music started. As they say, it was “love at first strike” and WOW it really was! I’m forever grateful to that friend and to POUND and its community for everything that first class has brought me.
