A POUND ICON is a master trainer, as well as an ambassador of our brand, our beliefs, and our mission. They travel the world as an extension of POUND to elevate our united beat, one POUND Pro at a time. They are the educators, the rebels, the humble and electric. With different life and career experiences, personalities and uniqueness, they are the true representation of our BRAND. Let them inspire you, let them MOVE you.

DANIEL SHATTUCK

Daniel Shattuck became a POUND Pro in 2015 after having participated in POUND classes for just a couple months. Those classes were some of the first times he truly enjoyed fitness, and becoming a licensed Pro sparked a whole new journey. He went on to obtain his group fitness instructor certification, multiple other format-specific licenses, and eventually joined the ICON team in 2020. On the “nerdy-er” side of things (Daniel’s words), POUND was a major source of release as he completed his PhD in anthropology and a master’s degree in public health.

POUND for Daniel is focused on fun, inclusive community, and stress-relief. He hopes you’ll experience all of these in his classes, in addition to the sweaty workout. Catch a class with him in Las Cruces, NM at a gym, a local health fair, a park, or any number of unique spaces he likes to spice things up with.

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
I would love to play an instrument – maybe the drums, piano, or guitar.

How do you help someone who’s stepping out of their comfort zone for the first time?
Join them. Things are a lot less scary when you do them together.

What’s your go-to music genre?
Electronic hip-hop punk rock pop? Honestly anything but country… unless it’s Dolly.

What’s your ultimate “me time” indulgence?
My favorite indulgence is going out to eat and ordering as many different dishes as possible regardless of being able to eat it all just because I want to try everything.
