A POUND ICON is a master trainer, as well as an ambassador of our brand, our beliefs, and our mission. They travel the world as an extension of POUND to elevate our united beat, one POUND Pro at a time. They are the educators, the rebels, the humble and electric. With different life and career experiences, personalities and uniqueness, they are the true representation of our BRAND. Let them inspire you, let them MOVE you.

Katoya Sumner

On any given day you can find KaToya singing and making a beat  – while walking, sitting, and sometimes in the middle of talking. Music fuels this ICON and she lights up when given a chance to pair music and movement with others. Growing up with a passion for music, KaToya primarily used her voice as her instrument. Always moving to the beat and secretly wanting to be a drummer, POUND was a no brainer – it was truly love at first strike! She stays ready to bring the fire and energy, to unite all in movement and rhythm, and she’s always ready to have a good time!

What’s the best thing that ever happened to you?
Getting married to my husband and starting a family. It happened when we were young and it was unexpected, but it’s truly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. There is nothing sweeter than watching children grow up and become independent thinkers, loving friends and siblings, and hopefully a set of pretty decent human beings that contribute well to society when they grow up. I am so thankful to be a mother to my children.

What superpower would you most like to have?
I’d love to fly – what freedom and liberty!

If you had two hours left on earth what would you do?
Listen to good music and sing my heart out with the ones I love. While eating a buffet from around the world!

What’s the first thing you do when you get home from a trip?
Put the bags down and exchange that for hugs and kisses from my family. While getting the 411 on anything I missed.

If you could choose your own rockstar nickname, what would it be?

What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?
Birth 3 children naturally. Scary and yet so rewarding.

Dare to believe that my dreams could become reality.

What’s something you never leave home without?
A good lipstick – when in doubt add a little color!

How do you show your love for others?
By being their biggest cheerleader and supporter. I show love through words of affirmation.

What activity do you do that makes you feel most like yourself?
There’s POUND and then there’s…  singing, especially harmonizing. I love to sing and I can do it anywhere at any time so it’s always accessible.
