Living in Spruce Grove, just outside of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, Kristin Goertzen was introduced to POUND in 2017 at a Fitness Conference. She had never experienced a fitness class quite like it and ICON Ira McNamara who was instructing quickly became her idol. Kristin asked the ladies at the booth, “What do I have to do to do what HE does?” and she immediately signed up for POUND Pro Training. The next training happened to be just one month later and one block from her house, so close that she walked there! She took it as a sign from the universe and hasn’t looked back since.
A mom to three amazing kids and two fur babies, and wife to her husband who she’s been with since they were teens, Kristin is also known to be a jack-of-all-trades. When she isn’t teaching POUND, you can find her care-taking adults and kids, cutting and styling hair, teaching other fitness formats, and living a healthy lifestyle – including traveling, drinking wine, eating chips, and being outside!
What’s a great book you’ve read recently?
I am a sucker for a good old fashion love story. Anything by Nicholas Sparks.
What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?
Gave birth to 9 lb babies haha!
What’s the first thing you do when you get home from a trip?
Jump into my bed! I LOVE to travel but my bed is one thing I wish I could pack up and stick in my suitcase.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Be you. Don’t try to change for anyone. The people who are meant to be in your life will love you for YOU!
If you had two hours left on earth what would you do?
I would find some nice weather (it is pretty cold here in Canada most of the year) by a body of water, with a good book, my favourite music BLARING, a margarita and wine and the BIGGEST bowl of chips around.
What activity do you do that makes you feel most like yourself?
RUNNING outdoors. I LOVE to run and there is no better feeling than getting outside and feeling the wind in your face, and the pavement beneath your feet.
What makes you feel supported?
Words of Affirmation.
What’s the best thing that ever happened to you?
Becoming a mom, there is NO greater love.
What do you want people to say about you once you’re gone?
She changed my life for the better.
What’s one thing you’d tell your 13-year-old self?
You actually WILL marry your first love. Follow your heart and do not listen to what other people have to say about it!
What superpower would you most like to have?
EASY, teleportation. I have said this since I was a kid. If I want to be on the beach for a day, BAM! I want to go across the world to see my fellow ICON people, BAM! I want to have an afternoon tea with my best friend who lives 1.5 hrs away, BAM!
