POUND’s Sr. Director of Education and Pro Success
Shannon Roentved stepped into the fitness industry after graduating with her BFA in Dance. After a year or two of instruction, she decided to make it official and earn her MS in Kinesiology – no going back now! Shannon was introduced to POUND from her Recreation Director while working in campus recreation. In 2013 she earned her license to teach POUND Rockout Workout and in 2015 she began leading trainings as a POUND ICON. Shannon brings her love for music and movement to her classes and trainings, offering what she hopes is a fun mix of rock’n roll with rock’n science-based learning! She can’t wait to make noise with you!
If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
Cooking. I dream of the day when I can open up a fridge or pantry full of ingredients and just KNOW how to put them together. Until then, lots of online recipes, cooking reels and cookbooks.
How do you help someone who’s stepping out of their comfort zone for the first time?
I try to remember that my experience is a human one and aim to be honest and vulnerable in that – think sweat, awkward facial expressions, moments of fatigue and even choreography mistakes. In doing so, I hope it helps others feel safe to show up authentically – all Rockstars are welcome here!
What’s your go-to music genre?
Gosh, it changes all the time. I love all music! Can we pretend the 90’s is a music genre? If yes, then definitely THAT.
What’s your ultimate “me time” indulgence?
It depends on what I’m needing at the time; either a road run, a massage or Pho. I also really enjoy stand up comedy – live, on Netflix or even as a podcast.
