Melanie-Anne is a POUND ICON from Quebec city, Canada. With 13 years of classical ballet training, a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, and over 25 years working in a sports’ rehab setting, Melanie-Anne ignited her passion for POUND in 2017 while trying to beat depression through exercise. She took the leap and became a POUND Pro in 2018 and then followed her passion even farther by joining the ICON team in 2022. Melanie-Anne infuses her classes and trainings with a hefty dose of quirky humour, laughter, human connection, loud music and an overabundance of explosive energy, all while focusing on the science and values of POUND that she holds so close to her heart. She’s a badass with a big heart, whose goal is to make everyone in the room feel like a rockstar.
What’s your favorite way to make someone feel like a rockstar in class?
I make direct eye contact with them and shout out “yeeeessssss!”
What’s the one thing you always tell your class before starting?
Every musician in a band has their own unique role, in order to create a collective masterpiece. Use your movement options as if they were various instruments. Play your part and together we’ll make magic happen.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
Because I’m Awesome, by The Dollyrots. It’s the perfect pick me up and a reminder that my negative self talk and self doubt are lies, because I’m awesome!
What’s your ultimate “me time” indulgence?
Reading and writing romance novels. Getting lost in the ups and downs of fictional characters or writing my own romantic stories is my guilty pleasure.
